We have created a comfortable and safe environment for all our students.
01. Safety, Health, and Wellness
All students in degree-granting programs are required to maintain health insurance. Many are enrolled automatically in a Carolina-sponsored student health insurance plan as a part of our basic registration process. Students may also have their own health insurance. In addition, Wellness, Counseling (talk therapy) are free of charge.
Students can access a 24/7 hotline through the Wellness Exchange to contact a professional who can help you cope with both day-to-day challenges as well as any other problems they may encounter.
02. Housing
Residential Life and Housing Services is responsible for the overall administration and operation of 22 residence halls and 2 graduate living communities, home to 22,000+ undergraduate and graduate students. We work in coordination with many departments and student groups to provide and maintain comfortable, safe and cozy living environments for Carolina residents.
Living in our halls has a great impact on each student's academic career. Learning, living and making friends in one place are the hallmarks of the residential experience. Check out the halls, find out what's happening in your hall and get involved!
The Office of Residential Life and Housing Services is a great resource throughout your journey in on-campus living, from planning your move to transitioning into residential life, to navigating Carolina's services - housing and beyond.
Room Selection
You can specify your preferences in your Academic Year 2020-2021 application. You can submit or change the preferences at any time prior to May 8, 2020 at 3:00pm (Eastern).
Residence Halls
Within each residence hall assignment, each student is provided:
- An extra long bed and mattress (39"x80")
- A desk and chair
- Drawer space
- Hanging spaceDining Services
Caroline requires all freshmen, transfer and visiting students living in residence halls to participate in a meal plan — but all other students also can sign up to this plan to enjoy the convenience of dining on campus.
Changes & Cancellation
Cancellations after the updated final 2020-2021 cancellation deadline (July 20, 2020) are accepted only for specific reasons. Cancellation fees are applied equally according to the published schedule.
On-campus Experience
The best way to feel like at home is to get involved. Join a hobby club, participate in a leadership workshop, create your own organization, whatever! The hall staff can help you find out what is there for you according to your interests.
Carolina College expects its students to maintain continuous registration in an academic program. However, sometimes a student wants or needs to take a leave from enrollment for a period of time. Such leaves may be voluntary or involuntary, and will be handled in accordance with our Student Leave Policy.
To cancel housing, students must submit official documentation. Housing charges will be incurred up to the point of check-out.
If you are new at Carolina, Transfer Orientation will make your first days at college as comfortable as possible. They help students acclimate to life at Carolina by sharing resources and knowledge from their own college experiences.
All first-year students are also required to enroll in a First-Year Seminar. It is a discussion-based course taught by professors who are experts in their fields. First-year seminars are the perfect way to explore your interests or even discover new passions in a way that meets graduation requirements and allows conversation to flow.
Orchestras, choirs, and music ensembles, libraries, other hobby clubs are open to all Carolina students.
— Cohort Meetings
Cohort meeting are bi-weekly interactive sessions led by an academic advisor and College Leader (an upper-class student mentor). Meetings cover topics ranging from academic resources to to cross-cultural projects.
— College Leaders
College Leaders are upper-class students who assist freshmen students in their social, personal and academic transition. College Leaders are responsible for leading first-year students through the whole education process at Carolina.
The College of Arts and Science offers students a wide variety of activities outside the classroom:
● Curriculum-related clubs● Political, religious, and ethnic groups● Fraternities and sororities● Student publications● A wealth of music performance groups● And many other opportunities for students to enrich their academic lives with like-minded friends
The Carolina Student Council sponsors some other cocurricular activities. We often organize events and activities for students, as well as represent their class on other boards.
We have more than 300 active student clubs on campus open to all students — from the Cinema Club to the Cheese Lovers Club. You can also organize your own clubs and organizations and invite your friends and other students.
Whatever your interests are, you'll definitely find likeminded people here.
Also, we have Club Fest, which takes place at the beginning of each Spring semester. It is a great way to explore clubs across the College.
